Radymyr Tsiko – Space in Piano

Concert Program Concept

Space in Piano is a concert concept exploring different musical visions of space – from the monumental and familiar to the distant, abstract, and transcendent. The program brings together contrasting sound worlds to reflect how our perception of space has evolved through music. The piano becomes a medium for creating a sense of vastness, distance, and suspended time, while its resonance and pedaling allow a single instrument to suggest an unexpectedly expansive sonic space.

The concept gradually moves beyond established images of the cosmos toward a more personal sound world, incorporating elements inspired by the aesthetics of electronic music. At its core lies a question: how convincingly can the macrocosm of space be expressed through the microcosm of a single piano?
